Overview of The Precious Metal Electroplating Chemicals Industry

Precious metal electroplating chemicals are the chemicals used by electroplaters in the electroplating
process as the source of precious metal. For example, potassium gold cyanide (normally known as "gold salt" within the industry) has to be put in an electroplating cell for gold plating.

Gold salt, potassium silver cyanide (also known as "silver salt"), palladium diammine dichloride (also known as "palladium salt") and rhodium sulphate are four common precious metal electroplating chemicals. They are extensively used in the production of various products such as clocks and watches, jewellery, lighting equipment, fashion accessories, gift products, printed circuit board, semi-conductor and electronic equipment.

In the 1990's many large scale electroplaters moved their operations into China, creating a huge demand for precious metal electroplating chemicals there. In line with the energetic growth of the manufacturing sector in China, the market potential for precious metal electroplating chemicals is also expanding rapidlly.
